Mallorca is an island large enough to have proper geography—mountains, beaches, olive groves, stone villages that predate modern Spain. The Serra de Tramuntana mountains fringe the western coast. The light bounces off turquoise water in a way that makes photographers weep. The island is wealthy enough to maintain standards, yet touristy enough to be accessible.
Weddings favour May, June, September, and October when the weather is warm and the crowds are manageable. July and August are crushingly hot. The beaches are spectacular. The mountain villages (Deià, Valldemossa) offer ceremony locations with altitude. The restaurants are excellent and range from casual to Michelin-starred. The local wine is improving. The light at sunset turns the stone villages into gold.
