Santorini is a caldera island with dramatic cliffs, whitewashed villages perched impossibly high, and sunsets that are so photographed people worry the photos are doctored (they're not). The light is fierce. The food is Greek and outstanding. The beaches are black sand and volcanic. The water is warm but the exposure is dramatic.
Weddings happen May through October, with September ideal (June is peak season chaos). The cliff-side venues offer dramatic ceremony backdrops. The sunsets last three hours. The restaurants are excellent and extremely expensive. The light is Mediterranean and intense. Everything is staged specifically to look dramatic.
