Valencia sprawls across what used to be a river (now an urban park) and contains both a Gothic cathedral with a 15th-century bell and the City of Arts and Sciences, which looks like someone dreamed it in the future and built it in the present. The city is young enough to feel modern, old enough to contain genuine history.
Weddings favour May and September when the weather is warm and the crowds are manageable. June to August is hot. The beach venues offer Mediterranean views. The City of Arts and Sciences provides architectural backdrops. The restaurants are excellent—paella originated here, though most restaurants now acknowledge the dish has travelled. The park is green and surprising. The light in June lasts until 9:30 p.m.
