Pestana Village

Created to evoke a traditional Madeiran village through deliberately fragmented architecture, this resort near Funchal organises guest experience through narrow alleyways, small plazas, and cottage-scaled rooms positioned among oleander, bougainvillea, and the white hydrangeas indigenous to Madeira's gardens. The 50–150-person capacity spreads across multiple small buildings and central gathering spaces, with the design philosophy privileging village-scale intimacy over resort-scale amenities. The architecture serves as living interpretation of Madeiran settlement patterns, making the venue itself an educational landscape for guests unfamiliar with the region's vernacular building traditions.
