Weddings work in the old town's hidden courtyards, in the woods of Tervuren just outside the city, in the Art Nouveau villas of the Brussels periphery. Couples favour spring (April's cherry blossoms drift across ceremonies) and early autumn. The food is outstanding—not Michelin-star gorgeous, but deeply, genuinely good: mussels, pommes frites, waffles, beer. The city is tiny enough to get fully drunk and lost in an afternoon, yet cosmopolitan enough to accommodate any dietary requirement or cultural tradition.
